From 24 to 25 October 2023, EUROL 3 organized in close cooperation with the Judicial Training Centre (JTC) and held a two-day training on International Family Law as a part of the International Private Law. The training was organized for a group of 13 participants (judges and advisors).The trainers were Tina Jelcic (Senior Specialist Advisor in the Sector for Mutual Legal Assistance and Judicial Cooperation with Member States of EU in the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration) and Tijana Kokic (Judge of the Municipal Civil Court in Zagreb), both from the Republic of Croatia as international speakers contracted by EUROL 3, and Mirjana Popovic (Judge of the Appellate Court of Montenegro), as local trainer provided by the JTC.
The main aim of the training was to further upgrade the efficiency of judges, court advisors and other legal practitioners dealing with international judicial cooperation in civil matters.
During the training, the participants were introduced to the EU regulations concerning matrimonial matters and the matters of parental responsibility, including international child abduction, matters relating to maintenance obligations, matters of matrimonial property regimes and matters of the property consequences of registered partnerships. The participants received detailed information on EU family law in connection to other relevant international instruments in this field and on the most important Regulations of the EU Council, related to the matrimonial, family and parental issues and jurisdiction, the applicable law, recognition and enforcement of decisions and judicial cooperation in these matters.
The training on International Family Law as a part of International Private Law was organized as a third training module of the training program on International Judicial Cooperation in criminal and civil matters developed by EUROL 3.
