Workshop for Presidents of Montenegrin courts held

EUROL 3 organized and delivered on 23 November 2023 a one-day workshop for the presidents of all courts in Montenegro in close cooperation with the Supreme Court of Montenegro. The workshop gathered 22 out of 25 presidents of Montenegrin courts.

The main aim of the workshop was to inform the participants about the results of the Analysis of the efficiency of the work of judicial institutions, with a particular focus on the necessity of the managing role of the presidents of courts.

The workshop was carried out by international speakers (Rado Brezovar and Helena Miklavcic) as well as two national speakers (Željka Jovović, president of the Basic Court in Podgorica, who presented her experience in managing the biggest court in Montenegro and the use of monitoring mechanisms to follow the work of judges and create measures for reducing the backlog in the court, and Nemanja Zvicer, Head of the ICT department of the Judicial Council’s Secretariat  who spoke about the current situation regarding PRIS (judicial information system in courts) and plans and steps for its further improvement).

The topics discussed during the workshop included reports and indicators of successfulness of the work of courts, good practices for the improvement of the efficiency of the work of courts and examples from Slovenia and Croatia, triage in litigation, harmonization of human resources, and speeding up processes, as tools for the improvement of the efficiency of courts.
